Welcome to Redeeming the Scars!

Unpolished stories of healing from trauma, illness, and self-doubt.

Thanks for visiting my blog!

I come from an imperfect, southern family.  My parents divorced when I was 10, leaving a lasting mark on my own self-worth.  My mom and dad both made their mistakes, just like every other parent, but they always loved me and did the best they could.  My husband and I are imperfectly raising seven kids together (and a few cats, too), which makes for a busy and mostly messy home. Like any family, we have our challenges — but I believe even in the hard moments, God is writing something good.

My life has been marked by trauma, loss, and painful experiences that have left me with thousands of invisible scars. I have grown most of my life with abuse and neglect, and I’ve suffered the loss of two family members to suicide. Those wounds shaped me deeply, but they don’t have the final word.

On top of emotional scars, I also live with chronic health challenges: metabolic syndrome, chronic inflammation, nervous system dysregulation, and more. My body doesn’t always cooperate with what I want to do, and some days are a battle just to keep going.

For a long time, I thought I had to fix all of this in silence before I could share. But God is teaching me that redemption is not something that waits for perfection. He is redeeming my scars right here in the middle of the mess, and He can redeem yours too.

This blog is my journal — an honest look at what healing and faith look like in real time in my life. I’ll share the ups and downs, the lessons, and even the stumbles. Some days will be raw. Some will be hopeful. All of it will be real.

If you’re carrying your own scars — from trauma, from illness, from loss, or from the battles no one else can see — I want you to know you’re not alone here. You’re welcome to walk alongside me as we discover together how God can make beauty out of brokenness.
